The 71st Hong Kong Schools Music Festival – Grantham Music Awardees Triumph in International Competition

Two awardees of Grantham Music Awards in the 71st Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, representing the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association, come home in triumph in the ‘Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod’ held in July 2019  in Wales, England.

Wong Yin-ting won the competition of ‘Open Folk Solo (Instrumental)’ category playing Chinese composer Wu Hou Yuan’s Monologue: Impression from the Poem of Tang Dynasty “Song of Pipa Player”.  Yin-ting is a student of Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School and the champion of the ‘Pipa Solo – Advanced class’ in the 71st Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.

Another awardee, Chan Pak-hei, participated in the category of ‘Young International Musician’ and came third in the competition with extremely high performing standard.  Pak-hei is a student of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the winner of ‘Piano Solo – Gold Medal Award’ in the 71st Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.
