The Association is a non-profit making organization founded in 1940. It is now under the administration of an Executive Committee with more than 1,200 school members and 100 associate members. It aims to promote the interest of teachers and students in Chinese and Western music, and in speech, drama, poetry and prose.
The Association, over the years, has been much involved in laying the ground work for the promotion of music and speech activities among students and young talents who are now prominent figures in the arts scene of Hong Kong.
Besides organizing the annual music and speech festivals, the Association has arranged and presented a number of concerts, seminars, master classes, and demonstrations, by local and visiting experts, in many aspects of music and speech work.
